Bouquet: virtual flowers left at the door, with a card to pull out

The Bouquet opens on a front doorstep in the early evening: a painted wooden door, warm wall lamps on either side and a paper-wrapped bunch of flowers resting on the step. Tight domed roses share the space with daisies, waxflower and gypsophila, with eucalyptus spilling over the edges. Only the tip of a card shows between the blooms. The recipient pulls it up and out with a finger, and when it turns to face them it carries a short line for the occasion and their own name. It feels like finding flowers someone left for you.

Set to a birthday, the card reads 'Happy birthday', but the same bouquet works for thanks, get-well wishes, graduation, Mother's Day or no reason at all. It suits a parent, an old school friend or a relative who lives far away, and it is a good fit when real flowers can't make the trip. You send the link however you like, by WhatsApp or by copying and pasting it, and the recipient opens it in their phone's browser without installing anything.

What does the recipient experience?

  1. The screen says the sender 'left a bouquet at your door'. The recipient turns the sound on and taps 'Let's begin'.
  2. The camera moves in on the bouquet while the recipient's name is written out letter by letter, and the flowers open a little further.
  3. The tip of a card and an upward hint appear among the flowers. The recipient pulls the card up with a finger (or the mouse); past the halfway point it says 'A little more…'.
  4. The card comes all the way out and turns towards them, sparkles scatter, coloured petals begin to fall and a waltz we composed for Wishwiff starts to play.
  5. The sender's message appears on a card just below. 'Say thanks' lets them send one of five emojis back to the sender, and 'Again' replays the whole thing.

What can you choose?

The sender writes both names and an optional message, and picks one of four flower colours: red, pink, pastel or sunny (yellow and orange). The colour changes the roses, the wrapping paper, the ribbon and even the door. If nothing is chosen, the occasion decides: red for romantic days, pink for Mother's Day, pastel for the rest. For a promotion, the sender also picks whether it's a promotion, a new job or a general success.

When to send it

The Bouquet appears under more occasions than any other Wishwiff template: birthdays, Valentine's Day, anniversaries, Mother's Day, engagements, weddings, new homes, graduations, promotions and new jobs, new beginnings, get-well wishes, friendship and thank-yous, plus plain 'just because' days. Because the ritual is a single pulling motion, it is easy for someone who isn't comfortable with technology.

Common questions

Do I have to touch the card exactly to pull it?

No. Swiping up anywhere on the screen pulls the card; about a third of the screen's height is enough. Sideways movement counts a little too.

What does the card itself say?

It shows a short line for the occasion, such as 'Happy birthday', and the recipient's name. Your longer message appears afterwards on a separate message card.

How is the Bouquet different from the Flower wreath?

Both take place at the same front door. The bouquet sits on the step and the recipient pulls a card from it; the wreath hangs on the door and the recipient weaves it themselves by drawing a circle.

How do I send virtual flowers?

Pick the Bouquet, type their name, yours and an optional message, then send the link on WhatsApp or any other app. They open it in their phone's browser without installing anything, and nobody needs an account.
