Playful pup: throw the ball and the puppy brings it back

Playful pup opens on the rug of a sunny living room, where a floppy-eared, big-eyed puppy sits with a tennis ball at its paws. It wears a red collar with a gold tag. When the recipient swipes up from the ball, it flies to the back of the room and bounces away; the puppy races after it with its ears flapping, picks it up, trots back, drops it, barks and wags its tail. That happens twice. On the third throw it heads for the toy basket instead and comes back carrying a pink envelope. It's a game of fetch with a surprise at the end.

This one goes to a dog's owner, for the dog's birthday, its adoption anniversary or a new puppy settling in. The card speaks to the recipient, and if you add the dog's name, the headlines call it by name. It's a good way to celebrate a friend who has just adopted from a shelter, or to surprise someone whose dog never stops chasing balls at the park. Send the link by WhatsApp or by copying it, and the recipient opens it in their phone's browser with nothing to install.

What does the recipient experience?

  1. The screen says the sender 'has a surprise for you. It's playtime!' The recipient turns the sound on and taps 'Come in'.
  2. Their name appears while the puppy turns its head, barks and wags its tail, with the line 'brought the ball and is waiting for you'.
  3. An upward arrow appears above the ball. The recipient swipes up from the ball (on a computer, drags it up with the mouse and lets go) or taps 'Throw the ball'. A faster swipe throws it further, and a swipe angled left or right sends it that way.
  4. The puppy chases the ball, brings it back in its mouth, drops it and barks happily. The screen says 'Fetched it! Throw again.', and after the second throw, 'let's see what comes back'.
  5. On the third throw the puppy fetches an envelope from the toy basket and hearts float up above its head. The envelope opens and a card with a heart comes out; for a birthday a party hat drops onto its head, confetti falls and the sender's message opens on a card.

What can you choose?

The sender enters the name of the recipient (the dog's owner), their own name and an optional message. They choose the coat colour: ginger, grey, black, white or brown, with a lighter chest, muzzle and paws in every colour. They pick the reason: birthday, adoption anniversary or welcome to the family. The dog's name is optional (up to 20 characters); without it, the dog is called 'little one'.

When to send it

Playful pup belongs to Wishwiff's pet celebration occasion. Send it for a dog's birthday, the anniversary of the day it came home from a shelter or another family, or during a new puppy's first week. If swiping is awkward, tapping the 'Throw the ball' button three times is enough; the puppy runs and fetches every time.

Common questions

How many times do I throw the ball?

Three. The puppy brings the ball back the first two times; on the third it runs past the ball and brings you a letter from the toy basket.

Does it matter how I throw?

A little. A quick swipe sends the ball further and an angled swipe sends it left or right, but the puppy always finds it and brings it back.

Does the party hat appear every time?

No, the party hat only drops onto the puppy's head when the reason is a birthday. For an adoption anniversary or a welcome, there's no hat, but the confetti still falls.
